BETA ALPHA (Pennsylvania State) Undergraduate chapter size: 107. Alpha Omega advanced to the semi-fi-nals in both football and soccer intramurals. This is the second consecutive year that the chapter finished third overall and took first place in the Wildcats Request Live. Alpha Omega, along with the ladies of Pi Beta Phi, the men at Phi Kappa Theta and the men of Phi Beta Sigma, took third place overall in the annual Homecoming competition with first place in three of the individual events. The event raised a total of ALPHA OMEGA (Kansas State) Undergraduate chapter size: 78 new members: 21 Alpha Omega underwent a presentation that outlined the best practices for managing personal social media profiles. Alpha Phi logged more than 1,750 volunteer hours for the semester and participated in Game Day at the Boys & Girls Club, Game Night at the retire-ment home and Dance Marathon. Other alumni-involved events included tailgating events for home football games and the annual Alpha Phi Thanksgiving Feast. The system rewards those who are involved and help conti nued on page 24 SHIELD & DIAMOND Roast and all 20+ high school students visited the chapter for Iowa State’s annual Greek Getaway. Beta Kappa also installed a new system to help brothers meet potential new members, partici-pate in athletics and philanthropy events and play on intramural sports teams. Brothers are active on campus as tour guides, orienta-tion leaders and on the Emory Greek Conduct Review Board. Beta Kappa volunteered at a number of or-ganizations including the Carter Center, Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute and a soup kitchen in Atlanta. The chapter has also created a new strategy for recog-nizing brothers for their scholas-tic achievements as well as a new tutoring system. Beta Kappa implemented new training initiatives for spring re-cruitment. BETA KAPPA (Emory) Undergraduate chapter size: 47. In athletics, Beta Eta won the men’s intramural softball league. The men also have an undergraduate academic mentor program. The chapter recently founded a house improvement committee that oversees projects like the current landscaping project as well as adding photographs and artifacts from the chapter’s history. Brothers serve as University student trustee, on the Illinois student senate and as executive vice president of the IFC. Beta Eta Chapter maintains 100 percent campus involvement with men participating in various athletic teams and academic and professional clubs. Community service projects included a Red Cross blood drive and their participation in the campus wide clean up event. Alumni recently joined undergraduates for Homecoming eventsand the alumni are also contributing to the new chapter house landscap-ing project. Beta Eta Chapter has introduced an academic tournament that allows members to submit grades every week in addition to the required midterm grade reports. BETA ETA (Illinois) Undergraduate chapter size: 47 new members 38. BETA ZETA (Southern Methodist) Undergraduate chapter size: 86 new members: 2. BETA DELTA (New Mexico) led the Popejoy Cup, which is the athletic point race for fraternities. The chapter won the intra-mural sports championship, which is the 18th consecutive intramu-ral championship Beta Beta has won. Brothers of Beta Beta play on club sports teams that include soccer and hockey as well as members who work and vol-unteer for the Athletic Depart-ment. Beta Beta raised over $21,000 for the Seattle Children’s Hospital and volun-teered over 7,200 hours for the community. Beta Beta held their annual work-week and drasti-cally improved the house with projects that included painting parts of the house and renovating the outside porch. The alumni and undergraduate members have been actively working to-gether to make improvements on the house. In addition, they implemented new practices to improve their overall GPA from last year with assigned study hours for all members. The chapter also had a successful House Mother’s Wine and Dine event. Beta Beta had a successful fall recruit-ment period with events that included Seattle Sounders soccer games, boating on Lake Washing-ton and playing golf at local golf courses. BETA BETA (Washington) Undergraduate chapter size: 56 new members: 28. Their basketball team has started pre-season practices. In athletics they have seen strong finishes in golf, bocce and football and are mid-season for volleyball and squash. with Kappa Alpha Theta to raise over $125,000 for THON and this year’s goal is $175,000 which they believe they can achieve through corporate matching programs. Beta Alpha Chapter (Pennsylvania State) celebrated its centennial anniversary with over 250 alumni from the 1950s returning for the event.
